What’s all the hype about?
What’s attracting all these remote workers to live in this particular spot in Africa?
Let’s see if we can try to explain…
After having lived in 40+ cities around the world, we can safely say that Cape Town is one of the Tribe’s favorite locations to live and work.
It makes sense, since we’ve been there A LOT!
So, we thought we’d ask some of the Tribe members who’d been there to tell us what they loved so much about it…
Here’s what they had to say:
1️⃣ IT HAS IT ALL
Everything you could ever want as a digital nomad is right there in Cape Town. Amazing restaurants, great wine, scenic views, surfing, hiking, culture – there are few places in the world that offer as much as Cape Town.
“The thing that makes Cape Town so special is the way it sits between so many worlds – ocean, mountains, desert, vineyards, and more. You can literally do an endless variety of things, and yet the city itself is also a great place to work with fast wifi and co-working spaces like Cartel House and Workshop 17” – Dan
“I really love the atmosphere here. Really cape town has it all. Mountains beaches and city. You can get an ice coffee at a new place every day.” – Roel
2️⃣ GREAT SPOTS FOR NOMADS
Dope coworking spaces, cafes that would make any hipster proud, amazing weekend getaways, and adventures within the city – what else does a digital nomad need?
“Bootlegger Cafe… Hands down. It’s a local chain with amazing healthy food, coffee, customer service, and Wifi. I literally lived there during my 6-week chapter. Every. Single. Day.” – Lauren
3️⃣ SO MANY EPIC WEEKEND TRIPS
Hike the tabletop mountains, get in a cage near great white sharks, go surfing while hoping those sharks aren’t there, cruise the coastline, or fly to neighboring areas and safari with giraffes, hippos, and best of them all, the mighty lions.
“There are SO many incredible weekend trips. Beaches, mountains, hiking, wine tours, safaris, etc. We had a longer chapter than most and I still feel like there was so much I didn’t a chance to see. Safari experience between Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Botswana was in my top two favorite weekend trips.” – Lauren
4️⃣ IT’S EASY TO BE ACTIVE
With some of the best outdoor activities and an emphasis on being active and working out, Cape Town is a great place to stay active or start. Join classes in a nearby gym, get outside for an epic hike, or feel the benefits of a full day of surfing. Whatever you choose, it’s likely that you’ll be active in Cape Town.
“I feel like it’s so easy to be active in this city. Rock climbing, hiking, kayaking, surfing, boxing, yoga, etc. It’s all very very accessible and you find yourself naturally spending more time outside.” – Garrett
“Kayaking during which you can see whales, dolphins, or penguins. Paragliding spot is basically in the middle of the city.” – Krzysiek
“Lion’s Head and Table Mountain are awesome [for hiking]. I loved that there were cool trails just steps from the house.” – Jason
5️⃣ THE WINE, BEER & COFFEE!
A certified beverage haven, Cape Town has all the best liquid vices. World-renowned wine is cheap and plentiful, artisan beers are better than you might expect, and the coffee is as good as any digital nomad hotspot.
“There are also a ton of amazing local breweries & coffee shops!! Good beer & coffee is pretty much all you need in life” – Summer
“So much good wine close by!” – Caroline
6️⃣ A ‘HEALTHY’ CITY
On top of all the physical activities available at your fingertips, there is also a bevy of healthy eating options, green juices, and detox cleanses in Cape Town.
“Healthy food with reasonable prices.” – Krzysiek
“The people seem to really be into healthy living” – Roel
7️⃣ THE ‘GOOD LIFE’… BUT AFFORDABLE
Where else can you live like this? With awe-inspiring views, jaw-dropping landscapes, healthy vibes, and an endless supply of adventure, Cape Town truly offers the good life – at a good, good price.
“There are endless budget activities! My favorite has been grabbing a $4 bottle of local wine and watching the sunset over Camps Bay” – Summer
