A bustling modern city with an interesting history and breathtaking nature, Almaty is Kazakhstan's largest city and the scene of our next Tribe getaway. Walkable, vibey, and with plenty to do and see, Almaty is a perfect spot for a digital nomad looking for a unique remote work destination.

"I’ve completed 10 trips (or “chapters”) with WiFi Tribe—and I keep coming back for a reason. Simply put, it’s one of the best ways to explore new places." - Ryan, Triber

Nature, culture, and Kazakh cuisine come together in this epic city. Almaty is one of Central Asia's most culturally diverse cities, blending Kazakh traditions with Russian influence and Central Asian and Islamic heritage. This multicultural essence shines through in buildings with exquisite architecture, diverse foods for all palates, and more.

With the towering peaks of the Tien Shan mountain range as its backdrop, Almaty is just simply stunning. A nature lover's paradise, scenic hiking trails to crystal blue lakes are just minutes away, while distant mountains and wild plains await. The city itself is lush and green and perfectly walkable, with large sidewalks and plenty of public parks.

Meet the Chapter Host

Roberto

Hey! I'm Roberto!

Born in Panama City, Panama, but very much a citizen of the world. I've lived in places like China, Australia, Germany, the US, Thailand, Nepal, before finally calling Spain home. My background’s a mix of biodesign, startups, and community building, but at the core of everything I do is one constant: I care about people.

I like meaningful conversation, belly laughing, and helping groups feel connected without forcing it. Hosting for WiFi Tribe feels like the most natural thing I’ve ever done, and I can’t wait to meet you out there.

We're situated in a prime location in the city, near Rozybakiyev Street, a hub for shopping, dining, and entertainment. There are loads of cafes and restaurants close to our accommodation, and the Mega Mall is only 100m (a short two-minute walk) away.

The city is walkable, AND we're super central!

Good to Know

Some cathedrals require women to cover their hair, so bring a scarf or coverup on sightseeing days.

Almaty sits at about 700-900 meters above sea level. Most people won't feel the effects of the atitude, but if are senetitve to the decreased oxygeen pressure, your body will acclimate in about 3-5 days.

It's recommended to go slow to acclimatize to the higher altitude: avoid overexertion and strenuous exercise, stay hydrated and take a break from alcohol for the first few days while we're in Almaty.

While this is a city chapter, exploring outside Almaty is an absolute must. Weekend trips to epic lakes, vast plateaus, and expansive mountain ranges are in store. Almaty is a great base for a month where each weekend will be filled with truly memorable nature escapes.
