Melbourne

Australia

February 12 - March 12, 2027

This is our second time in Australia and we're so excited for another month-long chapter in Melbourne! Possibly one of the coolest, hippest cities in the world, we'll call buzzing metropolis home, strolling through street art-covered laneways and filling up on some of the world's best cuisine. Here, creativity shines, and art is everywhere.

With striking modern buildings and historic Victorian architecture, Melbourne is a beautiful city in itself with much to explore, and we're perfectly positioned to explore Australia during our weekend trips. Melbourne is a foodie lover's paradise and a coffee addict's dream. With cute cafes with world-class coffee on every corner, we'll have no shortage of hip and trendy places to hunker down and work in no matter which neighborhood we're in, while trendy bars and fine dining restaurants promise exceptional meals and memorable nights out with the Tribe.

New to WiFi Tribe? A Chapter is a month of co-living & co-working with 15-25 remote professionals and entrepreneurs. You'll arrive in a new city with an instant community of inspiring, like-minded friends to do life with (deep work on weekdays, daily hangouts, shared dinners, big adventures on weekends). Your social life is an automatic 10/10, but you choose your pace and set your schedule. And by the end, you'll leave with friends you keep traveling with for years.

Everything is co-created – NOT a tour group, a community. Most members are seasoned solo travellers who want a more connected, fun and meaningful global lifestyle – a social life that travels with them. Everyone is values-vetted (only 17% of applicants are accepted) to make sure you'll find your kind of people here. Our vibes: be kind, be bold, stay humble.

"For those wanting to build community while working and travelling the world, I couldn’t recommend WifiTribe enough. I can’t imagine not being part of this community." - Ellie, Triber

Australia is home to some of the most unique bird and animal life. How cute would it be to feed a kangaroo or wallaby, or pet a koala?! With one month in Melbourne, you'll have plenty of time to venture to a nearby animal sanctuary and enjoy an animal encounter while learning about wildlife conservation. Wildlife aside, we can't speak for insects... but as our living home is in the city, the chances that you'll see a huntsman are low... but don't hold us to this.

In Australia, you'll find some of the dreamiest landscapes on earth. Short trips out of the city take you to epic beaches and surf spots, while nature reserves promise hikes in epic mountain ranges and dreamy forests with towering trees. Further adventures take you to famed wine regions, historic towns, and beautiful coastal roads, and for those seeking truly remote, off-the-beaten-track experiences, head to the Northern Territory and explore the great Australian Outback.

Experience Melbourne with the Tribe

Grab your sunblock; we're heading to Australia! For a month, we'll be hanging out in Melbourne, calling the awesome location of South Yarra home! We'll overdose on coffee, become street art aficionados, eat way too much food, and spend all of our weekends exploring the great country of Australia!

1. Get Lost in Melbourne's Laneways

Exploring Melbourne's laneways, with its narrow cobblestone streets lined with art explosions and trendy cafes, is a must. Do not miss out on Hosier Lane!

2. Enjoy a Mornington Peninsula Getaway

Spend a day exploring the coastal hotspot of Mornington Peninsula for beach days, surf sessions, going to the hot springs, exploring local markets, hikes, and more!

3. Hang Out at St. Kilda Beach

Head down to St Kilda, a stone's throw from our coliving spot, for lazy beach time, volleyball in the mornings, and sunsets while watching penguins on the boardwalk

4. Take a Day Trip to Phillip Island

Hike the Pinnacles, stroll through the eucalyptus woodland of the Koala Reserve, and end your day watching the totes adorbs Penguin Parade.

5. Enjoy Melbourne's Markets

Melbourne is a food hotspot and it's market scene is unmatched. Plan plenty of trips to Prahan Market, South Melbourne Market, and Queen Victoria Market.

6. See Aussie Wildlife IRL

An animal lovers dream—head to the Moonlit Sanctuary for a day of animal encounters. Walk with dingos, see koalas, feed kangaroos, and hang out with a wombat.

7. Sip Wine in the Yarra Valley

Sip your way through the vineyards of the Yarra Valley, visit the wildlife haven of Healesville Sanctuary, and take a ride through the towering forests of Black Spur Drive.

8. Self Drive the Great Ocean Road

Cruise along the scenic coastal drive between Torquay and Allansford, viewing the iconic Twelve Apostles limestone stacks and spotting wild koalas in the wild!

Keep Traveling With Your Nomad Friends

Don't miss out on the "Gap Week" plans!

Gap weeks are the weeks before your Chapter begins and the week after it ends. It's the space where the friendships you've made (or are about to make) fuel legendary side quests. You arrive early and connect with Tribers you've been chatting with on Slack to explore a region together before Chapter starts, or stay late after the month wraps to travel somewhere new with the people who just became your closest friends. Here are our top gap week suggestions around Melbourne that pair perfectly with this Chapter:

Sydney & Byron Bay

Sydney is THE Australian city everyone wants to see, and tbh, you can't go wrong making it your gap week base. Marvel at the Opera House, hit up the world famous Bondi Beach, enjoy the coastal walks along the cliffs, and feast your way through all of the incredible food and coffee while soaking up the epic Sydney energy. After a few days in Sydney, take a short drive (or bus ride) up to Byron Bay, Australia's ultimate laid-back beach town. Byron Bay is pure chill vibes with stunning beaches, local markets, and beautiful nature. Watch the sunset from the Byron Bay lighthouse, swim in the gorgeous beaches, and enjoy the super laid-back energy. Sydney gives you the iconic city experience, while Byron Bay offers that creative, bohemian beach town magic. It's the perfect one-two punch to add to your Melbourne adventure.

Tasmania

Tasmania is nature in its rawest form. This island off Australia's southern coast is where you'll connect with the wilderness, relax on pristine beaches, and explore landscapes that feel like they're from another planet. Hike along Cradle Mountain's epic trails, kayak through crystal-clear waters around Freycinet National Park, explore towns like Hobart with world-class food and coffee culture, or soak up the stunning sights of Tasmania's unbelievable coastline. Whatever you decide to do on your Gap Week trip to Tasmania, it'll be pure magic exploring this beautiful country with your new Tribe friends.

Highlights

We're heading back Down Under and have the coolest coliving spots for this Chapter! Our location couldn’t be better: we’ll be staying in South Yarra, an inner-city suburb that’s close to the hustle and bustle.

We’re just steps away from Chapel Street’s boutiques, bars, and the historic Prahran Market, where plenty of bars, restaurants, and cafes will keep us busy, while iconic spaces like the Royal Botanic Gardens, Como Park, and St Kilda Beach are short tram rides away.

We have seven coliving apartments, split into either two or three-bedroom configurations, all within the same building. Each self-contained apartment comes with a full kitchen, laundry, living space, and balcony. We also have an all-access, complimentary pass to the building’s gym, as well as a large patio with tables and chairs (including sun cover!) that’s exclusively for us. Picture Tribe coworking sessions or festive dinners! Each bedroom has windows with plenty of natural light, air conditioning, and spacious built-in cupboards.

While this is a city chapter, we’ll have plenty of opportunities to get out into nature. We’ll have Melbourne as our base and use our weekends and free time to explore more of the beautiful landscapes around us, some just outside of Melbourne and others further into the Australian wild!

Good to Know

Melbourne is a very walkable city. From our location in South Yarra, we'll have plenty to explore and keep us busy, like parks, botanical gardens, the iconic Chapel Street, and loads of cafes for our coffee fixes. With an abundance of parks to walk around in, the city is surprisingly green, making the overall day-to-day experience of Melbourne extra livable and enjoyable.

There's also an excellent public transport system (trams, trains, buses) that'll take us further around the city. South Yarra Station is a key hub on the Sandringham and Frankston lines.

We'll be in Melbourne during mid to late summer, with temperatures ranging from 24-27°C (75-81°F). There may be some light rain, but nothing heavy. When packing, bring a light layer for evenings, but mostly you'll be in t-shirts and shorts.

There is so much to do in Melbourne alone, and with only three weekends for epic trips (the first week is for us to meet up and start exploring the city!), you may want to plan your time wisely. Research places you want to go ahead of time and strike up a convo with the Tribe in the Chapter channel as soon as it opens.

Melbourne was ranked number one in the Time Out Guide of the 50 best cities in the world, so you know you're in for an absolute blast on this Chapter!
