Get ready for a Chapter in paradise here in Bocas! It's a dream Chapter location we return to again and again. Known as the “Galapagos of the Caribbean”, Bocas del Toro is a sanctuary of lush vegetation, crystal waters, and exotic wildlife. Spend your free time exploring coral reefs, jungles, and the streets of "Bocas Town". Or give ATV tours a go and island hop on 4 wheels. We've had unforgettable memories on this sand, and we have no doubt you'll make your own there, too.

Arriving in a new country can be daunting, but in just a few days it felt like I was with a group of friends and by the end of the chapter we were like family - Triber, Morgan McKenzie

I had already been traveling as a digital nomad, but I was wanting to find a community to travel with. That's what led me to seek out WiFi Tribe! - Triber, Amy Suto

I just loved being able to get to know new Tribers, banding together and dancing, eating together, and exploring together. Learning how to ski can be hard, so there is nothing better to have others hold you accountable and cheer you on! :) - Triber, Elektra

Experience Panama with the Tribe

Take on Bocas with the Tribe and discover a new side to Island Life. Open your mind to the cocreated community experiences, adventures, and classic WiFi Tribe moments that'll make our time here one of a kind.

1. Embrace the Laid-Back Caribbean Lifestyle

'Bocas Town' offers everything you’d imagine Caribbean island life would. It's the place to find that perfect work-life balance. Whether you’re seeking a quiet spot for a day of focused productivity, or want to escape to a remote beach for snorkeling - it’s a small archipelago with a big playground.

2. Go Island Hopping

Explore the various islands in the Bocas del Toro archipelago, each offering its own unique charm and attractions. Popular spots include Isla Bastimentos, with its pristine beaches and lush rainforests, Isla Carenero, known for its local culture and surf spots, and Zapatilla Cays, perfect for snorkeling and relaxing on unspoiled white-sand beaches.

3. Explore the Island on Four Wheels

Rent ATVs and explore the rugged terrain of the islands, navigating through lush jungles, scenic beaches, and off-the-beaten-path trails. Four-wheeling offers a unique way to discover the natural beauty, hidden gems, and pure adventure that Bocas del Toro has to offer.

4. Snorkel, Dive, and Surf It Up

Discover the underwater world of Bocas del Toro. It's crystal-clear waters reveal colorful coral reefs filled with diverse marine life, including tropical fish, sea turtles, and starfish. Group tours provide equipment at popular sites like Coral Cay and Hospital Point.

5. Spend the Entire Month Outside

Hear the distinctive call of a howler monkey, spot lazy sloths hanging from trees, swim with friendly whale sharks, snorkel colorful Caribbean reefs, and try to get a shot of some of the most beautiful birds you've ever seen. Panama is pure abundance for nature lovers and we plan on being outside for the whole month.

6. Indulge in the Food Scene

With a lot of expats living on the island, Bocas offers international cuisine and Caribbean favorites. Go to Captain Caribe for some mean ceviche and burgers, Ciao to snack on crispy thin wood oven pizza, Octo for delicious seafood from the grill, or Cafe Del Mar to refuel with fresh smoothie bowls and juices.

7. Taste the Choc

Visit an organic chocolate farm on Isla Bastimentos, where you'll learn about the chocolate-making process from bean to bar. Sample fresh, locally-produced chocolate and enjoy a guided tour of the farm.

8. Zip Through the Jungle

Try ziplining through the rainforest canopy, high above the treetops. Several companies offer zipline tours that include multiple lines of varying lengths and heights, with epic views of the islands.

Bocas Unfiltered - Throwback to 2019 & 2021

Bocas has a split personality! On the surface, it looks like a sleepy beach town where you can choose to live in peace, surrounded by beautiful beaches and nature. And on the other side, you have the more 'backpacker-y' party beach life (including the infamous Filthy Friday, lol).

There’s a little bit of everything, but it is better suited for the adventurous and easy-going types who don’t mind giving up some comforts in exchange for a more authentic experience. The vibe is super chill: flip-flops, a tank top, and a bicycle are the way to be in Bocas. You are surrounded by water and other islands, and water taxis are the way to find some truly beautiful beaches to explore, relax, and work from.

During our month, I think Laurie came up with the line “To never not boat" as we would continuously and actively seek every single opportunity to get on a boat, a catamaran, a kayak, or even just a floaty and be on or by the water. Of course, diving, ATV tours, and the other usual suspects are also available to complete the experience. - Andrea Ottolina

Good to Know

Bocas del Toro is a small, rustic island in the Caribbean that does experience infrequent power outages. Keep this in mind if any amount of downtime negatively affects your ability to work remotely.

It is hot and humid, so some insects that are part of the local habitat are unavoidable.

Bocas del Toro is an archipelago, so boat travel is common. Be prepared for water taxis and boats as primary means of transportation between islands.

In some locations, you can also rent scooters or bicycles at good prices, especially for several weeks.

What classifies a room as an upgrade?

We have three amenities categories we look at when selecting the upgrade rooms:

  • Functionality: desk, chair, kitchen, ensuite bathroom, privacy, AC, kitchenette or kitchen, fridge, walk-in closet or extra storage space etc.
  • How it looks: balcony, terrace, views, size of room, size of bed, windows/natural light, decor, living room or seating area, couch, coffee table, mirror etc.
  • Mixed: When possible, the room shares some of both of the above.
  • Securing the upgrade guarantees that you get the amenities you've paid for.
  • Upgrades that have not been secured will be assigned to members based on a number of different factors by the host (order of booking, circle level, etc.)

Why did you join WiFi Tribe?

I wanted to feel a sense of community while I traveled and share the experience of a new environment and culture with others. - Triber, Giselle Bodden

What is your favorite part about a Chapter?

I’m currently on Chapter with several people I’ve met on other Chapters around the world. My favorite part is arriving here for the first time and feeling like I'm arriving home because several of my good friends from around the world are already here waiting for me. - Fellow Triber (anonymous)

What's the work vibe on Chapter?

Productive and in some ways inspiring. Being surrounded by many professionals in different areas, which gives you an understanding of different fields is a part of the chapter I enjoyed the most. Felt like I was exposed to a lot. - Wade Rosa
