Agia Thekla
Cyprus
April 25 - May 23, 2025
Welcome to Agia Thekla, where the charm of Cypriot village life meets coastal paradise. This Chapter is extra special because Christos, one of our long-standing Tribe members and local ambassador, has invited us to stay in his home while he shows us his favourite places on the island. From discovering the historical sites of Paphos to sipping wine in Limassol’s vineyards, we’ll explore Cyprus like true insiders. The warm May sun will be our constant companion as we dive into watersports, savor Cypriot cuisine, and unwind at local tavernas. This Chapter is more than just a month in Cyprus—it’s a chance to live like a local, with a local by our side, to create unforgettable memories together.
While it's a popular beach destination for tourists, I'm most excited to show my fellow tribers the true Cyprus. Nature, history, culture, geopolitical conflict, archaeology, and of course, a steady stream of grilled souvla cooked by yours truly. Of course, there will also be plenty beaches, water sports, and nightlife as well. - Christos Christoudias
I've spent most of the last year turning this home into a remote working paradise with high-speed internet and plenty of workspaces, so I'm excited to finally welcome my tribe family. The tribe is the perfect fit for what I love most about Cyprus: Community. - Christos Christoudias
Disclaimer: Some of the images are from the Gran Canaria Chapter 2023 and the Crete Chapter 2024, as this will be our first Cyprus Chapter.

Experience Cyprus with the Tribe
Join the Tribe for an unforgettable chapter in Cyprus, where island life meets local insight. As co-host, Christos will guide us to the hidden gems and iconic spots of Cyprus, setting the scene for unforgettable adventures and meaningful community experiences. Check out Christos' personal recommendations for us to create a month of classic WiFi Tribe moments.
Beach It up Like a Local
Protaras and Paralimni are where local Cypriots head when they want to enjoy the beach, giving it an authentic Cypriot vibe. Christos recommends Konnos Beach for its pristine sands and laid-back atmosphere. There's also a great spot for cliff jumping nearby. At Konnos, there’s a watersports center where we can rent a boat for the day. For a relaxed and delicious meal, Kalifi is a cozy beachside restaurant.
Hidden Gems and History in Paphos
Paphos boasts some of the best historical sites in Cyprus, including the Archaeological Site of Paphos and the Tombs of the Kings. To the north, you'll find a hidden gem—untouched beaches and charming, quiet tavernas with incredibly friendly locals. Nearby, the Baths of Aphrodite offer breathtaking views, with remote areas that even many Cypriots haven’t explored. It's the perfect escape for tranquility seekers.
North of Paphos is really remote and a great place to go if you want to escape everything. Even most Cypriots have never been in that area. - Christos Christoudias
Party Vibes and Upscale Local Charm in Ayia Napa and Ayia Thekla
Ayia Napa and Ayia Thekla, located just 10 km from Sotira, are rapidly transforming. The new marina is drawing a more upscale crowd, and since Cyprus adopted the Euro in 2007, it's become less of a hotspot for rowdy tourists. However, Ayia Thekla has a lively party scene, particularly at Nissi Beach, which offers a little bit of everything for visitors with a more mature vibe. Christos is excited to share his favorite local restaurants with us, and there's always the option of experiencing a Mediterranean sunset from the deck of a sailboat in Ayia Napa - perfect for unwinding together after a day of work or adventure.
I’ll be giving you all a view into life there from a local(ish) perspective. A lot of the restaurant owners and people in the area know me and my family. So you’ll get to experience legit Greek hospitality. - Christos Christoudias
Escape to the Tranquil Troodos Mountains
Cyprus isn't just about the beaches! The Troodos Mountains offer a refreshing escape from the intense summer heat. Dotted with sleepy little villages, these mountain towns are perfect for a peaceful retreat. The area’s charm lies in its tranquility and the opportunity to meet friendly locals. It’s an ideal spot to recharge and enjoy some cool mountain air.
City Vibes and Wineries in Limassol
With its skyline rapidly transforming due to Russian and Middle Eastern investments, Limassol is slowly taking on a Dubai-like appearance. However, Limassol's central location makes it convenient to reach almost anywhere on the island in under 90 minutes. If you're staying for a while, the city’s variety adds a nice change of pace. A highlight of the area is its vineyards, where you can unwind, tour local wineries, and savor some of Cyprus’ finest wines.
2023 off-Chapter moments in Cyprus
In 2023, Christos coordinated an off-chapter Cyprus trip to live and work together in his home (and surrounding villas) for 4 weeks. This is where the seed was planted to create this Chapter.

Good to Know
Sotira is a fairly remote location. Bikes will get your around quite well, but we also recommend renting cars for the group to share.
There is no Uber in Cyprus, but you can use Bolt or the 24-hour bus system.
Bike rental is about 60 euros per month.
You can drive from one end of the country to the other in about 3 hours.
In May, Sotira enjoys warm and pleasant weather. Daytime temperatures typically range from 23°C to 27°C (73°F to 81°F), while evenings are cooler, averaging around 15°C to 18°C (59°F to 64°F). May sees plenty of sunshine with very little rain, making it an ideal time for outdoor activities.

Why did you join WiFi Tribe?
I wanted to feel a sense of community while I traveled and share the experience of a new environment and culture with others. - Triber, Giselle Bodden
What is your favorite part about a Chapter?
I’m currently on Chapter with several people I’ve met on other Chapters around the world. My favorite part is arriving here for the first time and feeling like I'm arriving home because several of my good friends from around the world are already here waiting for me. - Fellow Triber (anonymous)
What's the work vibe on Chapter?
Productive and in some ways inspiring. Being surrounded by many professionals in different areas, which gives you an understanding of different fields is a part of the chapter I enjoyed the most. Felt like I was exposed to a lot. - Wade Rosa
