Puerto Escondido
Mexico
November 20 - December 18, 2026
We're heading back to Puerto Escondido, one of our favorite spots in Mexico! This Pacific coast paradise has it all: chilled, laidback vibes, beautiful beaches, loads of exciting activities, and absolutely divine food at affordable prices. We’ll be in Puerto Escondido at the best time of the year, soaking up the sunshine and perfect weather during dry season.
One of Mexico’s top destinations and a digital nomad hotspot, Puerto Escondido is a chill surf town that’s kept its authentic charm. Surfing put this spot on the map, with Zicatela Beach’s legendary “Mexican Pipeline” drawing surfers from all around the world. As if great beaches and perfect breaks aren’t enough, Puerto Escondido has plenty on offer, from bioluminescent lagoons, epic snorkelling spots, loads of wellness activities, and some of the best authentic Oaxacan food you’ll ever eat.
New to WiFi Tribe? A Chapter is a month of co-living & co-working with 15-25 remote professionals and entrepreneurs. You'll arrive in a new city with an instant community of inspiring, like-minded friends to do life with (deep work on weekdays, daily hangouts, shared dinners, big adventures on weekends). Your social life is an automatic 10/10, but you choose your pace and set your schedule. And by the end, you'll leave with friends you keep traveling with for years.
Everything is co-created – NOT a tour group, a community. Most members are seasoned solo travellers who want a more connected, fun and meaningful global lifestyle – a social life that travels with them. Everyone is values-vetted (only 17% of applicants are accepted) to make sure you'll find your kind of people here. Our vibes: be kind, be bold, stay humble.
"In a world full of travel experiences and remote work options, WiFi Tribe sets itself apart by focusing on one main thing above all else - community." - Mark, Triber
Work weeks in our perfect beachy paradise will be sheer bliss. We'll work from beachfront spots, hit the beach daily, and soak up the chill, laidback vibes of the town. When we're not working, we'll go beach hopping, search for epic surf breaks, hang out in buzzing Zicatela, smash fresh tacos from beachside palapas, and enjoy plenty of awesome wellness activities.
Weekends mean exploring even more of the Oaxacan coastline. Trips to nearby Mazunte and Zipolite take us to boho beach towns, while venturing to Huatulco's bays gives us a more resort vibe. For city vibes, we’ll head inland to Oaxaca, exploring the Monte Albán ruins, sampling artisanal mezcal, and indulging in authentic Oaxacan cuisine.
Watching the sunset every night with the group was a magical experience I will cherish. We built a beautiful ritual together in a very short amount of time.

Highlights
We're returning to one of our favorite spots in Mexico! Puerto Escondido has everything we love, like epic surf spots, amazing beaches, divine food and a laid-back vibe.
We're setting up base in La Punta (also known as Brisas de Zicatela), the sandy, surfy pocket at the southern end of Playa Zicatela that's become Puerto's digital nomad hub. Think sunrise surf missions, post-session smoothie bowls, loads of cafes, and incredible sunsets every single day!
Our coliving homes are a dream. We're split between two awesome properties, both right in the heart of La Punta, just a few minutes' walk from each other!
One property offers spacious one- and two-bedroom suites while the other has more of a boutique hotel feel.
Both properties have gorgeous swimming pools and large communal spaces, perfect for Tribe hangs, coworking sessions, or just lounging between work sprints. All rooms have A/C, many rooms have ensuite bathrooms, and some have balconies.
Our location is great—we're perfectly positioned with loads of awesome cafes, plenty of restaurants, and a stunning beach right there waiting for us.
Good to Know
Puerto Escondido has solid WiFi at most spots, however, the town can experience power and internet outages given its coastal location. These are usually brief but unpredictable. We'll have back up MiFi devices to keep connectivity going.
La Punta is walkable with pristine beach, coworking spots, incredible taco stands, and yoga studios all on our doorstep. The main Playa Zicatela strip has more restaurants, bars, and nightlife is either a pleasant 20-minute walk (best done morning or evening when the sun isn't blazing) or a very cheap taxi ride away.
Puerto Escondido is generally very safe. Standard travel awareness applies: watch your belongings at the beach, don't leave valuables visible, and be mindful when walking alone late at night in quieter areas.
We're hitting Puerto during the best season where temperatures range from 27-32°C (81-90°F) with minimal rain and consistent swells. It's hot and humid, so pack reef-safe sunscreen and mosquito repellent for evenings.
Puerto has a wonderfully laid-back vibe. Embrace the chill pace, where things move slower and mañana (tomorrow) is a real concept. The surf culture dominates and the dress code is perpetually casual: boardies and flip-flops everywhere!
