Kigali

Rwanda

Aug 9th - Sept 6th, 2024

The Tribe has spoken and we have listened: Join us on our first Chapter in the "Land of a Thousand Hills", Rwanda. This is not your "typical" digital nomad destination. If you love nature and outdoorsy, off-the-beaten-path locations, then this is the Chapter for you. Kigali will be our central hub to go on adventures like hiking Mount Kigali, spotting the Big Five in Akagera National Park, or trekking the bamboo forests of Volcanoes National Park, home of the mountain gorillas. Proud to be called Africa's cleanest city, Kigali itself offers a thriving arts and cafe scene, friendly locals, scrumptious East African cuisine, and an impactful history and sense of heritage. So let's lace up our hiking boots to create lifelong memories together while exploring this beautiful country and its abundant nature and wildlife.

Check out this FOMO-inspiring video about all the adventures to be had in Rwanda:

Experience Rwanda with the Tribe

Take on Kigali with the Tribe and discover a new side to Africa. Open your mind to the cocreated community experiences, adventures, and classic WiFi Tribe moments that'll make our time here one of a kind.

1. Explore Kigali

As the largest city in Rwanda, Kigali has a lot of sights to see: Go explore the Kigali Genocide Memorial, visit the Presidential Palace Museum, experience the vibrancy of Kimironko Market, or enjoy Rwandan Cuisine at a Local Restaurant.

2. City Views from Mount Kigali

Not a mountain in the traditional sense, but Mount Kigali offers a unique opportunity to experience the natural beauty and panoramic views of Rwanda's capital from a different perspective.

3. Gorilla Trekking Volcanoes National Park

This is one of the most unforgettable experiences in Africa, offering the chance to come face-to-face with the rare mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.

4. Go for a Coffee Tour

Rwanda is famous for its coffee. Visit a coffee plantation to learn about planting, harvesting, drying and roasting from bean to cup - and don't forget to join a tasting.

5.  Safari in Akagera National Park

African wildlife at its finest and wildest: elephants, lions, and giraffes, oh my! Set against the backdrop of the beautiful Rwandan savannah, wetlands, and lakes.

6. Relax at Lake Kivu

Lake Kivu, one of the African Great Lakes, lies on the border between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. It's a unique destination, dotted by beautiful islands and surrounded by lush, terraced hillsides.

7. Attend a Rwandan Dance Performance

Enjoy the energetic traditional performances and vibrant costumes, that narrate stories and themes from Rwandan history, folklore, and daily life.

8. Attend a "Milk Bar"

Milk bars, locally known as "Amata Fromageries," are a unique aspect of Rwandan culture. They offer a variety of fresh milk-based beverages and serve as popular social hubs for locals.

Highlights

With its strong internet infrastructure, affordable living costs, and safe, clean environment, Kigali has emerged as a compelling destination for digital nomads in the past few years.

We will stay in the Robero neighborhood, allowing us to have a quiet home base in a safe residential area while having access to the bustling city life.

We'll have all the local amenities close by, including markets, restaurants, and cultural sites.

Our one villa has a wrap-around furnished communal terrace with epic city views. And the best part is, we'll all be under one roof!

Good to Know

Our homes don't have AC. Temperatures typically range from 18°C (64.4°F) to the highest of 28°C (82.4°F). AC is unnecessary in August due to the city’s temperate climate, resulting from its high elevation.

August also falls within the dry season, so we can expect mild temperatures and low humidity, making the weather quite comfortable.

We will have private security.

Renting cars for day-to-day would be best and private parking is available on the property.

There is a paid laundry service available.

What classifies as a room upgrade?

We have three amenities categories we look at when selecting the upgrade rooms:

  • Functionality: desk, chair, kitchen, ensuite bathroom, privacy, AC, kitchenette or kitchen, fridge, walk-in closet or extra storage space etc.
  • How it looks: balcony, terrace, views, size of room, size of bed, windows/natural light, decor, living room or seating area, couch, coffee table, mirror etc.
  • Mixed: When possible, the room shares some of both of the above.
  • Securing the upgrade guarantees that you get the amenities you've paid for.
  • Upgrades that have not been secured will be assigned to members based on a number of different factors by the host (order of booking, circle level, etc.)
  • If all rooms have a particular amenity such as AC we do not offer upgrades for that particular
