Make It Happen! Want to hang out in the Azores? Cast your vote by filling in the form below.

For the very first time, we’re heading to Europe’s best-kept secret and lesser-travelled island paradise, the Azores! Often referred to as the Hawaii of Europe, the Azores is a collection of nine remote islands across a volcanic archipelago, and we’re calling São Miguel, the "Green Island," our home base for a month of coliving and coworking!

With sweeping volcanic cliffs, turquoise-colored crater lakes, natural hot springs, and wild coastal views, the Azores has a lot to offer, and could possibly be one of the most beautiful places on earth. Beyond the drop-dead gorgeous natural beauty, we’ll be charmed by the interesting culture, delicious food, unique agricultural traditions, and ultimate chill vibes. Our home base of São Miguel is the perfect setting for productive work weeks, and on weekends, we’ll find ourselves exploring the archipelago through a world of incredible adventures!

New to WiFi Tribe? A Chapter is a month of co-living & co-working with 15-25 remote professionals and entrepreneurs. You'll arrive in a new city with an instant community of inspiring, like-minded friends to do life with (deep work on weekdays, daily hangouts, shared dinners, big adventures on weekends). Your social life is an automatic 10/10, but you choose your pace and set your schedule. And by the end, you'll leave with friends you keep traveling with for years.

Everything is co-created – NOT a tour group, a community. Most members are seasoned solo travellers who want a more connected, fun and meaningful global lifestyle – a social life that travels with them. Everyone is values-vetted (only 17% of applicants are accepted) to make sure you'll find your kind of people here. Our vibes: be kind, be bold, stay humble.

"WiFi Tribe puts so much thought and heart into finding the most incredible people. And it makes ALL the difference to the chapter experience. There’s this openness and positivity that you just can’t find out in the real world." - Jess, Triber

São Miguel is the perfect remote work spot where natural beauty and laid-back island vibes collide. We'll work from cafés in Ponta Delgada, and when work wraps up, it's go time. We’ll hike to Lagoa do Fogo's crater lake, chase waterfalls in Nordeste, marvel at Sete Cidades’ views, and soak in Furnas' thermal baths while eating stew cooked by volcanic heat.

Quick flights or ferries take us to neighboring islands for even more adventures! On Pico, we’ll climb Portugal's highest peak, on Faial, we’ll paint our own mark on Horta Marina's legendary sailors' wall, and on Terceira, we’ll explore the rich cultural heritage of Angra do Heroísmo and descend into Algar do Carvão's massive lava tubes.

Experience The Azores with the Tribe

It’s our first time exploring the Azores with the Tribe, and we couldn’t be more excited! Our home base, São Miguel, is compact enough to fully explore in a month, yet diverse, so every weekend reveals something different. Plus, traveling to the other islands reveals adventures you literally can't find anywhere else on Earth!

1. See the Famous Twin Lakes

Lagoa das Sete Cidades is a sight you’ll never forget! We’ll hike around the crater rim of an ancient volcanic caldera, where two blue-green lakes have formed.

2. Go Whale and Dolphin Watching

The Azores are one of the best whale-watching and dolphin-spotting spots on Earth, and we’ll hop on as many boat tours as possible.

3. Hike Your Heart Out

If you’re an avid hiker, this Chapter is for you! Trek through São Miguel’s lush greenery, challenge yourself to reach the summit of Mount Pico, and more!

4. Tour the Only Tea Plantations in Europe

Take a sip of history and head to the Gorreana Tea Plantation. Grab a cuppa, learn all about tea, and enjoy the views of the rolling fields looking over the ocean.

5. Go Canyoning Through Waterfalls

Experience the islands in the most adventurous way! We’ll rappel down waterfalls, slide down natural water slides, and jump off cliffs (safely!) into crystal-clear pools.

6. Indulge in Azorean Cuisine

Feast all month long on fresh seafood, Azorean pineapples, sweet pastries called Queijadas, passion fruit everything, and the national dish, Cozido das Furnas.

7. Explore the Fajãs of São Jorge

São Jorge's coastline is dotted with "fajãs”, flat coastal plains formed by lava flows or landslides, where we'll hike through landscapes unlike anywhere else.

8. Explore Terceira Island

On Terceira Island, we’ll swim in the Biscoitos volcanic rock pools, descend into the Algar do Carvão volcanic cave, and wander the streets of Angra do Heroísmo.

Highlights

We're setting up base in Ponta Delgada for a month-long Azores adventure!

The capital of São Miguel Island, Ponta Delgada, is the perfect launchpad for a month of work and play. Get ready for productive work weeks and weekends exploring volcanic lakes, dreamy coastlines, and more!

We're taking over two fantastic guesthouses, just one minute apart. Both properties are modern and comfortable, equipped with everything we need: fully-equipped kitchens, comfortable rooms, and A/C throughout, perfect for those warm island days. Some bedrooms already have desks and chairs, and some also have balconies.

We're converting two rooms in one property into a dedicated coworking area with a large table and chairs that everyone can use.

Our Ponta Delgada location is absolutely brilliant. Everything's walkable and we're close to loads of cafes for work sessions, amazing restaurants (don't skip the fresh seafood!), gorgeous waterfront promenades, and we're just a couple of minutes from the iconic Portas da Cidade, the city's landmark gates.

While our home base of Ponta Delgada itself is compact and walkable, we'll likely rent and share cars to properly explore the island of São Miguel. Public transport exists but is limited, so having wheels means we'll have the freedom to discover the island's wild side!

Good to Know

Cost of living in the Azores is very reasonable compared to mainland Europe or the US. Meals are around €10-20, fresh seafood is affordable, and Portuguese wine won't break the bank!

Our accommodation is located in the town centre on a historic cobbled street. As with many central locations, this can result in some street noise, which may affect light sleepers. If you’re sensitive to noise, please make sure to note this in your booking form and we’ll do our best to allocate a room away from the street. We'll also provide high-quality earplugs for your comfort.

Thermal hot springs culture is big here! Soaking in natural volcanic pools at Furnas or Caldeira Velha is an absolute must-do experience. It's like nature's spa and totally unique to the Azores!

The Azores are incredibly safe; crime is extremely low and locals are genuinely welcoming.

We'll be there during early autumn (September-October), with temperatures around 20-25°C (68-77°F). The weather can be unpredictable as the Azores sit in the middle of the Atlantic, so you might get sunshine and rain in the same day. Pack layers, a proper rain jacket, and be prepared for anything.
