Thessaloniki

19 Sept - 17 Oct, 2025

A modern city that tells the story of multiple civilizations, Thessaloniki is Greece’s second-largest city, with a laid-back vibe and fewer crowds compared to Athens or the Greek Islands. Walkable, with a seaside charm and plenty to explore, Thessaloniki is a captivating destination for digital nomads and the next place we’ll call home.

New to WiFi Tribe? A Chapter is a month-long trip where we explore a destination together. Accommodation and internet is provided, and you’ll have a Chapter Host available for any help or guidance. You set your own schedule, working when needed, and can explore the city however you like. On weekends, you’ll venture to further destinations with the Tribe, co-creating an epic trip to see more of the country you’re working remotely in. You’ll call a new place home with a community that’ll quickly become your new best friends, and make memories that’ll last a lifetime.

"Joining this community was truly life-changing for me, I never thought I would have the opportunity to not only travel and work in so many amazing places but be connected to a network of people who are so like-minded as myself." - Samantha, Triber

Thessaloniki’s captivating history dates back over 2300 years, seeing the rise and fall of many empires —Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman. Today, the city’s multicultural history shines through its architecture, cuisine, and monuments, where Byzantine churches, Ottoman-era structures, and Roman ruins lie juxtaposed against everyday streets and buildings.

Walking through the city streets, you'll discover ancient ruins beside modern buildings. Short trips from the city take you to the beaches of Halkidiki, Mount Olympus, the monasteries of Meteora, or the waterfalls of Edessa.

Experience Greece with the Tribe

We're calling Thessaloniki home for a month-long chapter. Picture productive work days at ocean-side cafes, mid-day museum missions, festive dinners with your tribe, and island hopping all weekend long.

1. Dive into the Halkidiki Peninsula

Craving a lazy beach day or weekend? Head to Halkidiki's three-pronged peninsula for turquoise waters and silky sand shores, and al fresco dining at the ocean.

2. Hike Mount Olympus

Head to Mount Olympus, home to the Gods in Greek Mythology, for an some epic hikes. Opt for an overnight hike and make this a weekend trip to remember.

3. Tuck into Thessaloniki’s Food Scene

Dine at traditional tavernas, go giddy for gyros, pair small mezze plates with ouzo, have bougatsa for breakfast, and enjoy plenty of fresh seafood in Greece's culinary capital.

4. Learn the History of the White Tower

The city's main landmark with an infamous past, climb the stairs of the White Tower and enjoy stunning views of the city and the Aegean Sea from the top of the tower.

5. Sail the Aegean Sea

Get in, Triber, we're goin' sailing! Thessaloniki's marina is perfect for chartering a yacht or sailing lessons, while Halkidiki's pristine seas are best explored on a boat day.

6. Shop at the Local Markets

Experience local culture at its finest while shopping at the several markets around the city. Modiano and Kapani Markets are popular options to explore.

Highlights

We'll be staying in several apartments in a prime location, with some close to the ocean-side White Tower and others closer to the park of the Rotunda (talk about living a stone's throw from history!). The apartments are located just a five- to eight-minute walk from each other.

We also have access to a spot close to the Rotunda, exclusively for us, which can be used as a coworking space or hangout/meeting area.

All of the apartments include full kitchens, open-plan dining or living rooms, washing machines for laundry, and balconies.

Thessaloniki is full of awesome restaurants, bars, and cafes—all in walking distance from our apartments—so we'll have no shortage of cool places to work from and eat at. The city was awarded UNESCO City of Gastronomy status in 2021, so be prepared to eat some of the best food of your life.

Good to Know

Please note, this Chapter starts 1 week later than the other Chapters.

While this is a city Chapter, expect to be island hopping and exploring Greece during the weekend.

Thessaloniki is extremely walkable, but taxis and a bus system are available for further distances. The app FreeNow is an app-based ride-hailing service similar to Uber. The public bus transport system is cost-effective, and e-scooters are available for zipping about town.

Another great option would be to rent a car for short trips outside the city to see some of the surrounding areas.
When visiting churches, dress conservatively and keep your shoulders and knees covered. A good idea is to carry a scarf or cover-up with you on sightseeing days.

Tap water is safe to drink. English is widely spoken.
