ARMENIA

Make it happen!

Let's start a trend!

We've never been to Armenia as a Tribe so instead we're bringing you the Tribe scoop from members of the Tribe who visited this destination after our Tbilisi Chapter last year. It received loads of positive feedback from nomads just like yourself so we're putting it on our radar for a potential Chapter in September 2024. Only a 30-minute flight from Tbilisi, Yerevan is another under-discovered gem that nomads are only just starting to discover.

Tribers who have visited Armenia all said it's an underrated spot to visit. The city has a real laid-back charm to it that makes you wanna kick back and just go with the flow and whether you're into history, artsy scenes, or just lounging in a cafe, Yerevan's got your vibe covered.

Make a Chapter in Armenia happen!

Ancient Roots: Yerevan is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, with  history dating back to at least the 8th century BC. That's some serious ancient vibes right there!

Fun fact: Armenia has its own unique alphabet, created in the beginning of the 5th century by Mesrop Mashtots. It has 39 letters and although it looks nothing like the Latin alphabet it looks very beautiful.

Pink City: Yerevan is often called the "Pink City" because of the rose-colored tuff (volcanic rock) that many of its buildings are constructed from. When the sun sets, the city takes on a warm, rosy hue that's dreamy.

Café Culture: Yerevan is a paradise for coffee lovers. The city functions off of café meet up, with countless cozy spots where locals and visitors alike gather to sip on rich Armenian coffee and chat the day away. It's not just their beverage of choice; it's a way of life here!

Highlights

Our properties are in a lovely safe nook of Yerevan close to attractions, grocery stores, the university, and a very short cab ride (around $4 USD) to the main square.

The team has found Ideal homes that are close to the action but quiet in the evenings so we're able to sleep at night!

There are multiple places to cowork within our homes or in the city.

Good to Know

This is our first Chapter in Armenia and we're starting the trend of being among the first to visit this destination.

Yerevan is easy to get around. It has a efficient public transportation system, including buses, minibuses (marshrutkas), and taxis.

Temperatures range from 15 - 25°C. Autumn is also the season for grape harvesting, with many vineyards offer wine tastings and tours during this time.

6 Adventures to do in Armenia

Take on Armenia with the Tribe. Open your mind to the co-created community experiences, adventures, and classic WiFi Tribe moments that'll make our time here one of a kind.

1. Some serious tummy-turning sh*t!

Visit Khndzoresk village for the first of many hiking options of this Chapter and, if you're really feeling adventurous, take a walk over the suspended swing bridge while exploring the surrounding caves in the mountains.

2. Garni Temple Exploring

Escape the city for a day and hike to and around the Garni Temple. This well-preserved Hellenistic wonder sits against a backdrop of the mountains. Pair it with a trip to Geghard Monastery nearby for an extra dose of history!

3. One for the foodies!

Here is an adventure for your palate The GUM market is full of local treats and traditional handicrafts. It's in the heart of the city and from this video, the locals seem to visit here as often as tourists.

4. Explore sites from the 17th century

Early bird? Rise and shine for a sunrise trip to Khor Virap (deep dungeon). Rumour has it that a man survived in the dungeon for 13 years by being secretly fed by local Christian women. It's an easy day trip from Yerevan and a must-see spot in the Caucasus.

5. Get that bird eye view!

Armenia has great options if being up in the clouds is your thing! You can take a hot air balloon through the city, paraglide over the surrounding mountains or zip line in Yenokavan (Yell Extreme Park), in Dilijan and Tsaghkadzor.

6. Geghard Canyon: land or water

Go rafting in the picturesque Azat River, which flows through the Geghard Canyon or take the walking paths along the water. As you navigate the river, you also take in the towering cliffs and rock formations surrounding you.
