Cali
Colombia
Feb 9 - Mar 8, 2024
Let's dance! Cali is a vibrant city nestled in the heart of the country, renowned for its diverse culture and tropical climate. The city’s rich cultural scene is exemplified through its passionate salsa dancing, which permeates the streets and local nightlife, and its culinary delights, featuring a fusion of flavors from around the world. On weekends, we'll go chasing waterfalls, explore charming historical cities, and take a ride on unique rail cars. We have four weeks of fun and shenanigans to look forward to in a location perfect for epic adventures.
Disclaimer: Some of the pictures are from previous chapters in Medellin and Santa Marta, as we have never visited Cali before.
Experience Cali with the Tribe
Take on Cali with the Tribe and discover a new side to Colombia. Open your mind to the cocreated community experiences, adventures, and classic WiFi Tribe moments that'll make our time here one of a kind.
1. Salsa the Nights Away
Cali is often called the "Salsa Capital of the World," so be sure to hit the dance floor at one of the city's many salsa clubs. You can take a salsa dancing class to learn the basics or simply enjoy the lively music and atmosphere.
2. Go Hiking Through the Jungle
Just a few hours from Cali, San Cipriano is a hidden gem nestled in the jungle. Accessible by a unique mode of transportation known as “brujitas” (wooden rail carts), this lush paradise offers crystal-clear river tubing, hiking trails, and a chance to connect with nature.
3. Explore Popayan
Known as the “White City” due to its well-preserved colonial architecture, Popayan is a picturesque town around three hours from Cali. Day-trippers can explore its charming streets, visit historic churches, and savor delicious Colombian cuisine.
4. Bathe in Nature in Pance
Pance is a tranquil village located on the outskirts of Cali, famous for its pristine natural surroundings. Day-trippers can embark on hikes through lush forests, swim in clear mountain streams, and enjoy a picnic in a serene setting.
5. Let's Go Chasing Waterfalls
“La Chorrera del Indio” is one of the tallest waterfalls in the country, with a reported height of approximately 590 meters (1,935 feet). The waterfall is situated within the Chingaza National Natural Park, known for its rich biodiversity and stunning natural landscapes.
6. Savor Colombian Coffee and Cuisine
Colombia is known for its rich coffee culture and Colombian cuisine is diverse, with regional dishes like bandeja paisa and arepas being popular choices. Be sure to explore the local food scene to savor the unique flavors and ingredients of Colombia.
Barranquilla Carnival
Spend the weekend at one of the worlds biggest carnivals! Barranquilla's carnival parade is considered second only to Rio de Janeiro's (wow) and will be happening as our Chapter starts (10-13)! And there's direct 95min flights from Cali to Barranquilla. What a way to get into Colombian spirit!

3 floors, 14 rooms, furnished rooftop terrace, outside working space, kitchen, paid laundry service

Highlights
Our property is in the residential area of Miraflores which is located within the larger neighborhood San Fernando. It's a 5 min walk to the well know Parque del Perro (or "Dog Park" #DogLovers).
Its central location makes it convenient to access Cali’s downtown and the city’s various amenities. Nightlife is also buzzing due to restaurants and bars surrounding the area.
Additionally, when Colombian coffee is needed, we can find a range of modern co-working spaces and cafes with wifi.
We will be living in a newly renovated hotel with 14 bedrooms, furnished rooftop terrace with outside working space, multiple hangout spaces, and fully outfitted kitchen. All rooms have ensuite bathroom, AC, blackout curtains, and most of them have small desks.
Good to Know
Cali’s tropical climate offers year-round sunshine, with average temperatures ranging from 72°F to 88°F (22°C to 31°C), making it a paradise for those who crave endless summer days.
Cali is very hilly so be prepared for inclines.
Casa Miraflores, a popular coworking space, is 7 min walk from our home.
While the neighborhood is generally considered safe, just like any big city, it's important to remain vigilant. Walking with your cellphone out at night is not the best idea and for longer distances, it's advisable to request a taxi or Uber. Overall, the neighborhood is safe, but taking precautions is essential.

A few spots are set aside to build a more balanced community on the ground, with a mix of genders, nationalities, ethnicities, and member experience levels. All shared rooms are between 2 or 3 people of the same self-identified gender.

The joy and camaraderie I felt with the Chapter made the experience truly unforgettable. Despite the fact that we had only recently met, we bonded over our shared love of adventure and exploration. It was incredible to be in Colombia, exploring new landscapes and cultures with a group of like-minded individuals. The memories and connections I made on that trip will last a lifetime.
