Land of Beaches. Sultry Sunsets. Hedonist's Paradise.
The dates for the Goa chapter are slightly different to the others in Nov/Dec
The Goa chapter takes place
Nov 19 - Dec 17
The moment you touch down on India's Sunshine State, all the worries of the world just seem to melt away. With 105km of unspoiled coastline, the most stressful thing on the agenda is choosing which beach to explore. But, that's not all this Indian paradise has to offer. From its fascinating Portuguese history, to its diverse wildlife; its bustling bazaars to its stunning natural landscapes; its fusion of exotic flavours to its hedonistic approach to relaxation - Goa has something for everyone.
Goan cuisine is an exotic blend of sea, spices and settlers. The latter of these brings together the very best of African, European and Asian flavours, resulting in a distinctively fresh and vibrant flavour profile. This isn't Indian food as you know it - thick sweet chai is replaced with zingy lime soda, creamy curries are full of fresh seafood and Goan samosas bring a light, elegant touch to the classic Indian street snack.
Once dubbed ‘Rome of the East’, and considered the largest, richest and most impressive city in Asia, Goa's colonial history is fascinating, and its Portuguese architecture mesmorising.
Spilling along India’s west coast, and kissed by the warm Arabian sea, the Goan coastline is one of the most beautiful in the world. Whether you want to while away your day in a hammock, sip cocktails with friends listening to electro beats, or jump on a surfboard, Goa is known as "The Land of Beaches" for good reason.
Mumbai: the home of Bollywood, and the heart of the people. Its streets are crowded and the seafront buzzes with energy. Here you’ll find everything from upscale eateries, to simple street food stalls, hidden villages to cosmopolitan shopping districts. Ready to dive into the real India? Mumbai awaits…
In the 1960's, hippies first descended to cavort on Goa's sun-kissed beaches. Since then, Goa has witnessed the psychedelic 70's and raving 90's - and it still has a reputation for being the home of wild beach parties, open air clubs and hosting incredible DJs from around the world.
If you want to get ahead of the "new year, new me" crowd, Goa is the perfect spot. Explore wild jungle, overgrown with spice trees, and ancient waterfalls that spill into open lakes. Or get a little more zen with a beach-side yoga class as the sun comes up, and private meditation practice as the sun goes down.
Our tribe will be living in Calangute which lies in the North Goa district. This is a very popular neighbourhood and therefore has plenty of amenities, restaurants and nightlife options. A visit to one of the world's most popular beaches is only a 10 min walk from where we stay, making our work breaks pretty epic! The historical parts - Old Goa and Panaji, as well as the party neighbourhood Anjuna are close to where we stay.
If you’d like to find out more about what it’s like to live in Goa as a ‘digital nomad’, including internet speeds, cost of living, and coworking spaces, have a look at Nomad List’s guide. Internet is known to have stability issues every now and then. We always have MiFi devices with mobile data as backups in all homes to make sure that we can keep working productively if there are any stability issues.
