Antigua

Guatemala

Experience Guatemala with the Tribe

We're going back to Guatemala, which is fast turning into a Tribe favorite. This Central American destination will mesmerize you with its colonial architecture, volcano-specked landscapes, delicious coffee, and a culture influenced by the Mayan empire.

1. Surrounded by Volcanoes

Guatemala is home to over 20 volcanoes, giving this country a unique energy that's palpable the moment you arrive. Our home in Antigua is placed right at the foot of several of these magnificent - and active - volcanoes, giving you the chance to marvel at their power on a daily basis.

2. Visit the Tikal Mayan Ruins

Step back thousands of years and let yourself be awed at the ancient limestone Tikal ruins, which were home to one of the largest indigenous populations in all the Americas. The six square mile UNESCO site contains more than 3,000 buildings built by the ancient Mayan people.

3. Hike up Acatenango

A spectacular sunrise from a volcano with a view of even more volcanoes. Waking up at night from eruptions. A hike through several ecosystems upwards. It doesn’t get more impressive than conquering this active volcano.

4. Taste the World's Finest Coffee

If you're a coffee fanatic (and what nomad isn't?!), you're in the perfect place to explore some of the world's most delicious java. Your caffeine buzz in Guatemala will be one of the highest quality ones you've ever had!

5.  Experience the Local Market

Immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of Antigua's local market, where you can find fresh produce, traditional crafts, textiles, and souvenirs. Interact with the friendly locals, and get a taste of everyday life in Guatemala.

6. Explore Antigua's Historic Center

Take a leisurely stroll through the streets of Antigua's Historic Center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Admire the well-preserved Spanish Baroque-influenced architecture and visit landmarks such as the Santa Catalina Arch and the Cathedral of Santiago.

7. Savor the Local Cuisine

No trip to Latin America is complete without awakening your taste buds to the local street food culture, freshly caught seafood, and locally-inspired dishes.

8. Take a Dip in Lake Atitlan

The sacred shores of Lake Atitlan have attracted adventurous souls and spiritual seekers for decades. Immerse yourself in the healing powers of nature, practice yoga in the hippy-style town of San Marcos, and watch the sun set over the lake as you relax with friends and escape the grind.

Highlights

We are going to call beautiful Antigua our home for the month. Nestled amidst lush volcanic landscapes, this wonderful city exudes charm with its cobblestone streets, colorful architecture, and picturesque views of ancient ruins. When taking a break from work, you can explore the city’s lively markets, indulge in local cuisine, or immerse yourself in the fascinating Mayan heritage.

We have 4 beautiful casitas in a private secured compound. located in an authentic, friendly neighborhood, Residencial Hermita, just 6 blocks from the Central Square (Parque Central).

We got access to a heated swimming pool,  Jacuzzi/Hot tub, a beautiful and tranquil courtyard, surrounded by lush vegetation, fully-equipped kitchens for those that enjoy cooking and open fire places.

Good to Know

This small city (less than 50,000 population) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with amazing green landscapes, multiple volcanoes surrounding the valley, beaming with Central American culture, and crumbling ruins. A destination that you almost count as remote but strangely is also home to Wendy's, Dunkin Donuts & Subway.

Make sure to pack appropriate clothing. Daily high temperatures are around 72°F (22 Celsius), rarely falling below 67°F (19 Celsius) or exceeding 77°F (25 Celsius).

The Internet can be impacted by bad weather as most of the Internet comes from antennas positioned on the mountains/hills/volcanos surrounding Antigua. In case that happens we have our usual MiFi devices as backups and there is also other coworking cafes we can take advantage of.
