Palermo, or rather Sicily, has been in the possession of constantly changing peoples for many hundreds of years. They have all left their mark, which can be heard, felt or seen today. It's also summer for 8 out of 12 months (and spring for 4 months) which makes the weather in Palermo delightful!
Unlike in the rest of Italy, the buildings have clear Arabic, Norman or other influences and are therefore very different from Florence, Milan or Rome. We'll definitely feel like we're in Italy though with the piazzas, pizzas, and ancient churches and fountains! Ancient Greek and Roman architecture mixes with traditional Arab, Spanish, and Italian markets that Sicily feels like a mini tour of the world. Let's dig into every traditional dish, bask in the Mediterranean Sea and sun, and discover this city's ancient history as a Tribe.

1. Visit the Palermo Cathedral
This magnificent cathedral is an architectural masterpiece, blending various styles including Norman, Gothic, and Baroque. Don't miss the Royal Tombs and the stunning view from the rooftop.
2. Visit Monreale
As the Sicilian proverb says, "whoever visits Palermo without visiting Monreale arrives a donkey and leaves an ass." Luckily the cathedral in Monreale is a must-see with over 6,000 gold mosaics and intricate tile designs.
3. Step back in time in Agrigento and Erice
Take a break from beach days and travel way back in time while in Agrigento and Erice. Ancient Greek ruins and old fortress towns overlook the Mediterranean in these small towns off the coastal path.
4. Buckle up for a Coastal Roadtrip
The quintessential Mediterranean beaches may lie outside of Palermo, but they're only a car ride away. The beaches in San Vito Lo Capo are legendary with Mount Monaco towering above.
5. Sail Awaaaaay
The 2022 chapter had The. Best. Time renting a boat and cruising along the coast. There's really no better way to let go of life's daily worries than a sun-kissed sail over endless blue with the Tribe.
6. Eat Your Way Through the Italian Cuisine
Sicilian cuisine is famous for its use of fresh, locally sourced ingredients and a combination of sweet and savory flavors. Exploring traditional dishes like Cassata Siciliana, Panelle, and Cannoli to give you a taste of the rich culinary heritage of the region.

Highlights
At the colive home there's a fully-equipped kitchen, multiple living and dining rooms, and a beautiful terrace, it'll be a great spot for a weeknight Tribe dinner or a gathering space to plan a weekend adventure.
The 3-bedroom apartment is a 5-minute walk from the bigger colive.
The main colive property is divided into 6 self-contained spaces that are all connected. It has a furnished terrace and 2 coworking spaces to be shared among all members.
We're heading to Palermo when the weather and temperature is not too hot but could vary a little more between day and nighttime.
Good to Know
We are in the historic center this time round, meaning everything is going to be closer and more accessible. Being in the center also means it will be a little livelier and noisier than being in the outskirts of the city.
Renting a car is the most efficient way to visit neighboring towns for weekend adventures, but there's also a train with routes to many of the must-see spots.
There are no elevators in either of the homes.
All but 1 room (savings opportunity) have AC and we kindly urge you to use it responsibly and remember to switch it off when leaving.
There is a cute resident cat living in the main home, if you are allergic do let us know.
There is a laundromat nearby or one can use the inhouse laundry service.

Palermo Chapter FAQs

If a Member cancels a Chapter booking at least ten weeks prior to the commencement of the Chapter, the Member shall receive a refund of amounts paid minus the deposit and the deposit shall be forfeited unless the booking was either made within the 48 hours prior to the cancellation request or the member recommitted to an early booking in which case the deposit shall be allowed to be applied to a future booking.
If a Member cancels a Chapter booking at least six weeks, but less than ten weeks, prior to the commencement of the Chapter, the Member shall receive a 50% refund of amounts paid minus the deposit and the deposit shall be forfeited unless the booking was either made within the 48 hours prior to the cancellation request or the member recommitted to an early booking in which case the deposit shall be allowed to be applied to a future booking.
If a Member cancels a Chapter booking less than six weeks prior to the commencement of the Chapter, the Member shall receive no refund whatsoever and the deposit shall be forfeited.

In the Chapter's Slack channel before arrival, members often coordinate transportation to our homes together. You'll receive our address 4 weeks from the Chapter's start date.
We have three amenities categories we look at when selecting the upgrade rooms:
- Functionality: desk, chair, kitchen, ensuite bathroom, privacy, AC, kitchenette or kitchen, fridge, walk-in closet or extra storage space etc.
- How it looks: balcony, terrace, views, size of room, size of bed, windows/natural light, decor, living room or seating area, couch, coffee table, mirror etc.
- Mixed: When possible, the room shares some of both of the above.
- Securing the upgrade guarantees that you get the amenities you've paid for.
- Upgrades that have not been secured will be assigned to members based on a number of different factors by the host (order of booking, circle level, etc.)
- If all rooms have a particular amenity such as AC we do not offer upgrades for that particular amenity.
