Flourishing Forests. Galloping Game. Maasai Traditions.
If you love to experience the best of both worlds, our adventure in Kenya is perfect for you. We'll explore the vibrant capital of Nairobi, then head to the lively beach town of Diani Beach to round out the chapter with chill, ocean vibes!
Nairobi is a bustling metropolis that brings together modern living with the ancient traditions of the Maasai. Though an unusual choice as a coliving destination, Nairobi has got the capacity to be a wonderful coworking hubspot. Skyscrapers are neighbours to game reserves creating a hybrid city that is not only a centre of trade, but culturally rich all at the same time.
With more than just traditional steak, chicken or goat on the menu, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to try something a little more exotic. Crocodile anyone? Vegetarians, you'll find plenty of options in this foodie city as well!
Do life with some of the most beautiful creatures you’ve ever spent time with. Giraffe Manor is an experience you’ll never forget as you spend time with some really special guests..
You’ve just learnt some Swahili! Nyama Choma means ‘roasted meat’; enjoy this wonderfully roasted delight served with fresh salad and plenty of beer.
Mombasa is Kenya’s coastal city that looks out onto the Indian ocean. An ancient centre of trade, the city is awash with Indian, Arabic and African influences, creating a unique hub unlike anything you’ve ever seen before.
Watamu beach is a perfect example of the amazing coastline Kenya has to offer. Unblemished beaches, lush rainforest and a peaceful vibe is restorative to the soul.
Whitewater rafting on the River Tana is a must for all those who love adventure and wildlife. Spot the different types of birds as you navigate this exciting stretch of water.
Earthy, Kenyan Coffee or a health boosting tea? You can take your pick when you visit some of the cafe’s in the city centre.
…and learn all about their culture and way of living and fully experience it in the most authentic way together with WiFi Tribe.
There are no words to describe such a phenomenal experience. Get a guided tour across the lands of the Maasai Mara to have a real life ‘Lion King’ moment. Have a campfire dinner and chat after a super adventurous day.
The second highest mountain in Africa awaits the trekking enthusiast. Nestled in a national park of unimaginable scenery, take your opportunity to climb to the top and ‘touch the sky’.
There are so many awesome coffee shops spread over Nairobi. That one of our favourite things to do was, to head out in the morning work from one of the great cafés we discovered as a group.
For the first half of the chapter, we’re staying in the best possible location in Nairobi! Quiet, but just a few walking minutes away from all the action. We’ll be spread across a few apartments.
For the second half of the chapter, we’ll be living right on the beach! Think, beach workouts, snorkeling & diving right in the backyard, fantastic seafood and a good dose of nightlife.
If you’d like to find out more about what it’s like to live in Nairobi as a ‘digital nomad’, including internet speeds, cost of living, and coworking spaces, have a look at Nomad List’s guide. The pace of life is more relaxed here and although we do our best to have good WiFi in the apartments, stability can sometimes be an issue in Kenya. Of course, we always have internet backups; MiFi devices with mobile data in all our homes to make sure that we can keep working productively if there are any stability issues.
Our homes are a collection of spacious apartments, in the best possible location; a quiet area just a few steps from all the action.
