Accommodations only

Bocas Del Toro

Apr 21 - May 21, 2022

Panama is unlike anywhere else we’ve lived before. It’s captivatingly beautiful, and addictively adventurous in equal measure. If you’re the kind of person who lives for the sound of ocean waves lapping on the shore, if you feel most alive when you have warm sand between your toes and salt in your hair, if you’re equally happy swinging in a hammock or diving in the warm, clear waters of the Caribbean sea, then Bocas del Toro has something very special in store.

How Is This Different Than a Chapter?

What To Expect

How is this different than a Chapter? The main difference is there won't be a dedicated Chapter Host on the ground.

The Tribe in Bocas del Toro will create shared rules and guidelines for living together, make plans to hang out and explore Panama, and handle any issues with the accommodations or wifi directly with our local contacts.

This setup will be just as community-centric as a Chapter, with guidance of how our culture works coming from more experienced members and everyone pitching in to help, as always.

Ideal For

Seasoned Tribers who are ready to pass our traditions forward and help new members get a feel for our culture (all while living in paradise).

Friends who want to reunite without missing out on the vibes and adventures that come with coliving with the Tribe.

New members who can't wait to dive head first into the community, soak up every bit of our culture, and who aren't overwhelmed by small hiccups.

Experience Bocas del Toro with the Tribe

Take on Bocas Del Toro with the Tribe and discover a new side to Panama. Open your mind to the cocreated community experiences, adventures, and classic WiFi Tribe moments that'll make our time here one of a kind.

Embrace the laid back Caribbean lifestyle

'Bocas Town' offers everything you’d imagine Caribbean island life would. It's the place to find that perfect work-life balance. Whether you’re seeking a quiet spot for a day of focused productivity, or want to escape to a remote beach for snorkeling - it’s a small archipelago with a big playground.

Indulge in the food scene

With a lot of expats living on the island, Bocas offers international cuisine and Caribbean favorites. Go to Captain Caribe for some mean ceviche and burgers, Ciao to snack on crispy thin wood oven pizza, Octo for delicious seafood from the grill, or Cafe Del Mar to refuel with fresh smoothie bowls and juices.

Spend the entire month outside

Hear the distinctive call of a howler monkey, spot lazy sloths hanging from trees, swim with friendly whale sharks, snorkel colorful Caribbean reefs, and try to get a shot of some of the most beautiful birds you've ever seen. Panama is pure abundance for nature lovers and we plan on being outside for the whole month.

Explore the island by two wheels

Bocas Town is full of bike rental shops where you can get a nice set of wheels for around $2 an hour. The seaside routes to Bluff Beach or Starfish Beach are popular peddling paths. With plenty of beautiful view points along the way, taking it slow and stopping for photo ops can make this adventure a full-day affair.

Bocas del Toro FAQs

How is this different than a Chapter?

Our time in Bocas del Toro is primarily different from an official Chapter because there will not be a dedicated Chapter Host on the ground.

The Tribe in Bocas del Toro will create shared rules and guidelines for living together, make plans to hang out and explore Panama, and handle any issues with the accommodations or wifi directly with our local contacts.

Our Chapters are and always have been community-centric and this setup will be just as much about creating community together. The main difference is that all of the guidance of how the WiFi Tribe culture works will come from our more experienced members.

Who can book a spot?

All active WiFi Tribe members can book a spot, including new members who haven’t completed a Chapter yet.

Since this is the first time members are only booking accommodations with WiFi Tribe, this setup might be best for those who understand our culture, community, and who don’t feel overwhelmed when figuring out small hiccups.

What's included in the price?

  • Dedicated Slack channels to communicate with all members in Bocas del Toro
  • Accommodations in Bocas del Toro, Panama from April 21 - May 21, 2022
  • Weekly apartment cleanings
  • A small coworking room at the property that’s only available to WiFi Tribe members
  • Fully equipped kitchen and bed linens

Flights to and from Bocas del Toro aren’t included.

Will joining the Tribe in Bocas del Toro go towards my member status (i.e. Nomad, Citizen, Veteran)?

Yes, booking a room in Bocas del Toro will go towards your member status to help unlock lower prices for future bookings on Chapters. Find out more information about member status here.

Do I have to book for the entire duration? Or can I book for less time?

Only bookings for the full duration of April 21 - May 21, 2022 are possible. Of course, if you have to come a little later or leave a little earlier, that's entirely up to you. It's recommended to get there on time for the first weekend because that's when everyone will be getting to know each other and you don't want to miss out on those moments.

Closest airport and transportation information

Closest airports: Panama City Tocumen International (PYT), Albrook Marcos A Gelabert International Airport (PAC), and Bocas del Toro Isla Colon Jose Hall International (BOC)

In the Chapter's Slack channel before arrival, members often coordinate transportation to our homes together. You'll receive our address 6 weeks from the Chapter's start date.

What are the COVID and community rules while in Bocas del Toro?

Members can use WiFi Tribe's COVID guidelines as a starting point, but ultimately the exact COVID protocols will be decided as a group. For example, on Chapter, our COVID guidelines say members shouldn't go to large gatherings with more than 50+ people in attendance. In Bocas del Toro, the group can take a majority-rules vote to decide together if they'd like to follow the same guideline or not.

Our community’s guidelines should be followed more strictly, however, as they are basic codes of conduct to treat everyone with dignity and respect. Harassment, reckless behavior that puts the group in jeopardy, and disregard for our shared values won’t be tolerated.

At our accommodations, members should also follow the below guidelines from our landlords:

  • No smoking inside the apartments or on the balconies
  • No outside guests are allowed at the accommodations

How will members create a community vibe in Bocas del Toro?

Everyone who books a room will be added to dedicated Slack channels where the team will drop some great weekend trip ideas from past Chapters in Bocas to help you kick it off, as well as some accommodation tips and coworking spots.

We may also have a community ambassador in Bocas del Toro (most likely a member who has completed lots of Chapters) to help support new members and introduce them to the vibe of the Tribe. We’re currently in the process of figuring these details out.

Will dedicated Slack channels be created to connect with members before arrival?

Yes, all members who book a spot will be added to dedicated Slack channels around March 11th to coordinate arrivals, chat about bucket list adventures to explore in Panama, and virtually meet.

The workspace will remain live for the duration of our stay in Bocas del Toro.

Who do I contact if there's an issue with the accommodations or wifi?

Members will be provided with contact information for our local landlords. If there’s an issue with the accommodations or wifi, members should get in touch with these contacts first.

If the local contact isn’t able to assist or find a solution, members will also have a WiFi Tribe team member’s contact information to escalate issues to.

Will WiFi Tribe provide backup MiFi devices?

No, backup MiFi devices will not be provided by WiFi Tribe. We encourage everyone to get a local SIM card and use your phone’s hotspot option as a back, should the internet drop out.
