Queer Surf Month
Sayulita, Mexico
July 04 - August 01, 2025
Get ready for sun, surf, and authentic self-expression. We're partnering with Gay Surf Week and Find Your Tribe to bring you a first-of-its-kind Chapter, Queer Surf Month—a month-long remote coworking and coliving retreat in Mexico's quiet beach town, Sayulita. Picture warm beach days filled with productive work sprints and surf breaks, surrounded by a welcoming queer community that'll make you feel connected and inspired. Queer Surf Month brings together LGBTQ+ individuals, allies, and those who identify as queer for an unforgettable month of coastal living, surf missions, and community bonding.
In Collaboration With:

Gay Surf Week carves out a much-needed space in the hyper-hetero culture of surfing to encourage queer surfers and adventurers. Gay Surf Week is excited to partner with WiFi Tribe and Find Your Tribe to expand it's offering and further celebrate queer identities and remote professionals.

Find Your Tribe hosts co-living houses around the world for queer people. Our mission is to create spaces where you feel safe to be your authentic self, build genuine connections, and find true belonging. The modern world puts many barriers in the way of meaningful relationships—and we're here to tear them down.

WiFi Tribe is the curated global community for remote professionals wanting to find adventure, forge connections and work everywhere.
Meet the Hosts
Joe, Gay Surf Week
Hailing from Colorado, Joe has a passion for helping others. He worked for a social change accelerator helping nonprofits and social enterprises positively impact communities in the US and assisted companies in Sri Lanka to modernize their operations.
If that sounds like he'd have lots of stories to fill a memoir, you're right. Joe is busy getting it all on paper, in between milkshake breaks and joining the Tribe on epic Chapter adventures.
Beau, Find Your Tribe
Beau is a storyteller and entrepreneur dedicated to helping queer people build meaningful connections.
When he's not hosting communal living houses around the world, he's probably dreaming up another harebrained video project.
Right now, he's re-learning how to embrace being silly, weird, and playful.

"I feel supported. I feel happy. We cook together, go on adventures, and share sunsets at the beach. Life just feels more fun in the day-to-day." - Chris
"Gay Surf Week was the perfect trip for me and my friends! We had never surfed before, so it was amazing to learn with other queer people. It takes time and effort which is why a dedicated space for our community was so important!"
"It is the experience of a lifetime. Watching the ocean, sharing my life in a beautiful place with incredible people who were strangers two weeks ago but now feel like family." - Zach

Highlights
We are going to call Sayulita our home for one month. This vibrant and colorful beach town has a super chilled, laid-back surf vibe and is known for its beaches, surfing, snorkeling, and scuba diving. With vibrant, lively streets and lush tropical surroundings, this relaxed beach town is the perfect setting for Queer Surf Month!
Along Sayulita's cobblestone streets, you will find small businesses and cafes selling delicious traditional dishes. There are many bakeries offering a wide variety of freshly baked breads that can be enjoyed with iced tea or a delicious cup of coffee—a perfect post-surf pick-me-up!
Our coliving homes are in fantastic locations, just a ten-minute walk from each other. One of the properties has a large top floor with A/C, which will be transformed into a spacious coworking area and chill lounge.
Good to Know
Sayulita is for animal lovers. It's common to see dogs running around, hear them barking, meet a parrot on occasion, or get woken up by a rooster.
While our coliving homes have great wifi speeds, elsewhere in town, the speeds are very modest. Complete internet and cell outages may occur and can affect the entire area for an extended period of time (2-24hrs).
The first property includes A/C and a small kitchenette in each room. The second property includes A/C in most of its rooms (excluding the rustic and vibey treehouse rooms, although there are fans!). All rooms include a desk and chair.

In the Chapter's Slack channel before arrival, members often coordinate transportation to our homes together. You'll receive our address 4 weeks from the Chapter's start date.
For the first time in WiFi Tribe history, you do not have to be a member of WiFi Tribe to join our Queer Surf Month, though early-bookings will be granted to those with active WiFi Tribe memberships. That said, all members will still go through a similar interview process to ensure our community remains inclusive and fruitful.
Queer Surf Month will cover the cost of your board rental and up to three surf lessons to use throughout the month. Similar to activities on other WiFi Tribe chapters, we'll help groups of guests self-organize further surf sessions beyond. It is our hope that the culture of Queer Surf Month has many surf moments, but we won't prescribe them or ask attendees to commit to any activity beyond their comfort. You're welcome to attend even if you do not wish to surf.
From beginners to pros, all skill levels are welcome at Queer Surf Month.
It is our hope that this month is comprised of many queer identities, but you do not have to be queer yourself to attend. The culture of our month will be very queer-normative, so if you are open to that, then we are open to you!
How Do I Join?
We're stoked that you're ready to join us for Queer Surf Month! We want to create the perfect community dynamic for our time together and are committed to making Queer Surf Month a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable space. This is a standard process for all WiFi Tribe applicants; however, unlike WiFi Tribe memberships, there is no $490 fee required for attending Queer Surf Month.
