Let's face it: we love living differently, but sometimes packing up our bags again makes us groan. When we're tired of researching Airbnbs in between meetings and being "on" all the time, settling in somewhere for a while is a nice change of pace. It's a chance to slow down, finally feel caught up again, and just appreciate staying in a beautiful place for a little longer.

We're trying something new.

Coliving in Cape Town is for taking a breather; it's a break from big decisions and scrambling to do ALL the things. We'll have more time to explore every corner of this beach town and leave time to chill out and reset, catch up on life and work, and actually settle in for a change.

Be part of the beta test and help shape the next evolution of WiFi Tribe.

Perfect destination for those who like to get active and go on adventures! Always something fun to do with the mountains and the beach as our backdrop

Harrison

Bungee jumping outside of Plettenberg Bay was a super fun weekend coordinated by several people within the community….We conquered the fear of jumping off a bridge together as a group

Mark

I loved seeing people post their activities in fitness channel. Encouraging and exactly the kind of vibe I look forward to from a WT group.

Create a Home Base in Cape Town

Cape Town, also called "Mother City" is the perfect destination for everyone who'd like a little bit of everything. You got the mountains, the ocean, the savannah, the big city life, the best foodie scene, nightlife, national parks, adventures. We always say four weeks is not enough, even after six weeks you are not running out of options for weekend trips, there aren't a whole lot of reasons to not set up a home base in the city-that-has-it-all.

Everyone together, under one roof

Perfect for being social when you want and finding alone time when you need to recharge.

Easy spots to hang all around us

The beach is right there and our coliving home has a rooftop pool, no planning required to hang as a Tribe all day.

Find a laidback lifestyle

Cape Town has a big city vibe, but it's super easy to get around, or even escape to the beach town Muizenberg next door to go surfing.

It's just so hard to leave

Combine an active digital nomad community with a beautiful location and it's tough to not want to settle in.

Our Home in Cape Town

Here's where the Tribe stayed the last time we colived, coworked, and adventured through Cape Town.

Highlights

The two villas are connected through the garden, the vibe is "my home is your home" so the common areas and garden are for everyone.

Each home has access to a private pool so expect lots of hanging outside in the gorgeous weather. Plus there are other large common areas inside and out.

Every bedroom has a private bathroom, a few are ensuite and others are in the hallway.

Good to Know

Due to ongoing drought, South Africa may practice load shedding during our Chapter. This can impact electricity availability and internet stability, though power shortages are advertised in advance to help plan. If our homes are affected, MiFi devices and local SIM cards will be available as backups but we may experience some outages.

Walking alone at night isn't advised, we'll take more Ubers than normal here to safely explore the nightlife.

For every room that doesn't have A/C, there's a fan available to stay cool.

What to Expect Coliving With the Tribe

The Tribe will create shared "house rules" and handle any issues with the accommodations or WiFi with our local contacts. There won’t be a dedicated Host on the ground.

It's a smaller, more intimate group where everyone will live under one roof, there will be lots of catching up with familiar faces over home-cooked dinners.

The vibe, as always, is community-centric; everyone pitches in to plan game nights, weekend adventures, and daily sunset rituals to make our time together unforgettable.

Experience Cape Town with the Tribe

Take on Cape Town with the Tribe and discover a new side to the Mother City. Open your mind to the cocreated community experiences, adventures, and classic WiFi Tribe moments that'll make our time here one of a kind.

1. Find serendipitous motivation

"Members were motivating me to work productively by sharing their own tips and inspiring stories of entrepreneurship and travel"

2. Kloof, scoot, and seal snorkel with friends

"Kloofing with a few members of the group and seal snorkeling with others! Oh, and Vespa-ing around town with friends"

3. Jump in the car for road trips & spontaneous dance parties

"One of my favorite moments was in the middle of a road trip to the southern tip of Africa, my car pulled off the road and had a spontaneous dance break for a few minutes. It was fun and life-giving..."

4. Organize a local safari experience

"I wasn't very up for doing a "rich & white" safari and decided to go [with] the Tribe. It turned out to be one of the most genuine experiences of my life!"

5. Come together under the stars

"Fave memory - a giant 16 person singing cuddle puddle on picnic blankets under the stars at an after-dark winery. Classic WiFI Tribe"

6. Grab a board and go surfing

Head to Muizenberg for one of the best surf spots in South Africa for beginners - thanks to the consistent waves and gently sloping sand bottom of the beach.

7. Embrace the sundowner culture

Cape Town is immersed in the most breathtaking views, add a sunset, a drink, a stunning landscape and maybe an occasional whale fin - you have the perfect moment.

8. Take a different perspective

Step off the top, at 1000 meters above sea level, and rappel into pure vertical space, if you love the adrenaline kick, this is a must!

Be a Beta Tester in Cape Town

This is a brand new way we'll meet up this year and you have a say in how it all comes together. Tribers who join the Colive beta test will give honest feedback for improvements, suggest ideas to help the community travel slower, and highlight what’s working well while testing the setup in Cape Town.

Colive Cape Town is for you if:

You've joined at least 1 Chapter before  (we're testing this out for the upcoming Colive setups).

You want the benefits of taking a breather from fast-paced travel. You either move around less throughout the year already or just need a break before bouncing around again.

You love being early adopters and want to help make this setup the best it can be. You're unfazed by small logistical issues if something doesn’t go to plan.

You're willing and ready to give feedback about every aspect of the journey: before arriving in Cape Town, while coliving with Tribers in South Africa, and after the beta test ends.

What is a Colive all about? How is it different from a Chapter?

Colives are about staying in a home away from home for months at a time and the reset that comes with it. Take a breather from making big decisions about where you’ll live next, unpack your things and let your bags gather dust for a change, get back into some good habits and routines, and spend time with a family of familiar faces who are settling in for a while too.

On Chapters there’s more urgency to feel, see, and taste everything in 4 weeks and dive headfirst into getting closer with new friends. On Colives, the vibe is more about chilling out with a more intimate group of the friends who we met on Chapters and now feel like family, spreading out our weekend adventures so there’s still time to relax, and appreciating a break from the stresses that come with always being on the go. The coliving setup will be just as community-centric as a Chapter. Like always, everyone will pitch in to plan game nights, weekend adventures, and epic BBQs to make our time together unforgettable.

The Tribe on Colives will also create shared rules and guidelines for living together and handle any issues with the accommodations or wifi directly with our local contacts as there won’t be a dedicated Host on the ground while we’re there.

Who can book a spot to colive in Cape Town? Why is the setup being beta tested?

The community will help steer the direction of our future Colive setups by sharing your thoughts and ideas. Experienced members who love being early adopters have unique insights into making this setup the best it can be, so save a spot in South Africa if:

  • You’ve joined at least 1 Chapters before (we're testing this for the remaining 2022 Colive setups)
  • You’re an early adopter who is ready to give feedback before, during, and after the Colive. Maybe you’ve thought about how our travels together could be improved before and now want a chance to share your thoughts.
  • You’re unfazed by small logistical issues if something doesn’t go to plan
  • You want to experience the benefits of slower travel, whether you already live this way or want to dip your toe into the waters

What are the COVID and community guidelines while coliving in Cape Town?

Members can use WiFi Tribe's COVID guidelines as a starting point, but ultimately the exact COVID protocols will be decided as a group. In Bolivia, the group can take a majority-rules vote to decide together if they'd like to follow the same guideline or not.

Our community’s guidelines should be followed more strictly, however, as they are basic codes of conduct to treat everyone with dignity and respect. Harassment, reckless behavior that puts the group in jeopardy, and disregard for our shared values won’t be tolerated. Should anything concerning come up, you'll be able to get in touch with the team directly or report concerns through our reporting form.
