Our next Snow Week is back and we're kicking off 2027 with an Unplugged adventure in the Austrian Alps. We'll be based in Zell am See-Kaprun, home to three world-class ski resorts which will quickly become our playground. With over 408 kilometers of pristine slopes and terrain for every skill level, the Austrian Alps will get your adrenaline pumping!
A week of world-class skiing and non-stop Tribe hangouts? Are you in?
Picture days carving down perfectly groomed runs and cruising along untouched powder within alpine forests. Conquer Schmittenhöhe with its stunning lake views, learn on Maiskogel which is perfect for beginners, and marvel at the crown jewel, the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier which towers at 3,200m+. There are slopes for every skill level, perfect for beginners ready to practice on nursery slopes and test out blue runs, as well as super advanced skiers up for the challenge of tackling Kitzsteinhorn's famous "Black Mamba" run which has an intense 63% gradient (yikes!).
Unplugged adventures are all about taking intentional breaks from work and reconnecting with your Tribe family. It's a chance to completely unplug from emails and deadlines, forget your laptop even exists, and spend every single day like it's the weekend. Expect the same wholesome energy from a Chapter, except there's zero work pressure, just time spent outdoors with old friends. Plus, who doesn't want to start the new year with a ski week vacation?
Reunite with the Old Pals in the Snow
Our next snowy Unplugged adventure is here! We'll spend our days hitting the Austrian Alps, tearing up the slopes on our skis and snowboards across three awesome ski resorts, Schmittenhöhe, Maiskogel, and the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier. After a busy day conquering the slopes, we'll head back to chill in our cozy mountain chalet and warm up by the fireplace with hot chocolate and good company.
If you're brand new to snow sports, you'll be in the best company for your first slide down the slopes as there are always several Tribers who are just learning to ski or snowboard. If you're not into skiing but still want to join in on the fun, come! There's plenty to do and see during ski week besides hitting the slopes. Cozy up with a book in the cabin, go for a hike along the mountain in some snowshoes, explore the super cute nearby town of Zell am See, and meet up at the end of the day for fun après ski festivities!

Ride everything from perfectly groomed runs with lake views to untouched powder stashes hidden between the trees across 408 km of terrain.

Highlights
We're heading to Kaprun for our next Unplugged ski week! Nestled right at the foot of three linked ski areas: Schmittenhöhe, Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, and Maiskogel, we've got endless options to ski and snowboard. The slopes are just a short (free) shuttle ride away, and the stop is literally 100m outside our chalet, couldn't be easier! Get ready for glacier skiing at 3,000m with snow that holds strong almost year-round, think long cruisy runs carving back down into the valley and cozy mountain hut stops for Glühwein and fondue along the way.
Our home base is a large property, a converted barn, just for us. We're all under one roof together so we'll be extra cozy! The property has amazing group hangout spaces that are perfect for post-ski hangs, card games by the fireplace, and hot chocolate sessions. The property has eight spacious bedrooms and four bathrooms, so everyone's comfortable!
The chalet includes a fully equipped kitchen for group meals, free WiFi throughout (although since this is an Unplugged we suggest total time off from work), a washing machine for keeping gear fresh, dedicated ski storage (essential!), and a beautiful outdoor seating area and garden with mountain views, perfect for early morning coffees before hitting the slopes.
When taking a break from skiing and snowboarding, the charming lakeside town of Zell am See is just down the road. Perfect for a change of scenery, we can explore the cute local cafés, snack on pastries, and see more of the region beyond the slopes.
Get ready for an epic week in the Austrian Alps!
Good to Know
Please note: In order to join an Unplugged adventure you must have already completed one Chapter with WiFi Tribe.
This is an Unplugged adventure, which means we recommend you fully unplug and disconnect from work: no work, no emails, no laptops. You'll focus entirely on skiing, hanging with your Tribe, and relaxing.
There's no host on this trip, but if you're new to the Ski Week set up, don't worry, there'll be plenty of seasoned Ski Week Tribers who'll show you the ropes (and the slopes!).
We're heading to Kaprun in peak winter where we'll have classic Alpine cold with temperatures ranging from -2°C to 2°C (28-36°F). Nights drop to around -3°C to -8°C (27-18°F), so bundle up!
January is prime snow season with frequent snowfall and excellent conditions on all three resorts.
The Ski ALPIN CARD gives you access to all three resorts: Schmittenhöhe, Maiskogel, and Kitzsteinhorn Glacier. The group may split up throughout the day so that everyone can ski at their preferred level from beginner-friendly Maiskogel to expert terrain on the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier. The Ski ALPIN CARD can be purchased ahead of time here. Rental equipment is available at the resorts if needed.
The chalet is perfectly positioned at the foot of the three ski resorts with a free ski shuttle stop just 100m away. Super convenient for maximizing time on the slopes!
Cars are not required but can be helpful for exploring the region during rest days or visiting the nearby town of Zell am See and surrounds. Most activities are accessible via shuttle and local transport.

Unplugged adventures are about reuniting with old friends. It's a week-long intentional break from the day-to-day to disconnect from work and reconnect with the Tribe.
It's a chance for us to keep in touch with old friends a few times a year and stay plugged into the community, even when we're no longer fully nomadic and able to join month-long Chapters.
That's why, for these adventure weeks, we're looking for members who have joined Chapters before and intimately understand what being a Triber is all about.
We're a group that loves to ski and snowboard, members have self organized their own ski weeks with fellow Tribers, so we want to help take it a step further. There's magic to renting out an entire chalet for cozy community hangs and bonding over a shared passion with people with whom we already feel close.
Chapters have a focus on productivity with the expectation that everyone will log on to work Monday-Friday. Unplugged is a time to... well, unplug.
Set up an out of office message and take off days from work, these week-long adventures are a holiday as a Tribe. We won't be working during the week, instead all of our focus will be on the adventure and the intention of getting even closer by sharing an epic experience.
Since this is a chance to unplug from our daily work schedules, we aren't specifically sourcing accommodations for their wifi reliability and speeds. We also won't have the backup MiFi devices on the ground or other supportive tech gear.
During this Unplugged adventure, our chalets do offer wifi but we suggest staying offline as much as possible to soak up the Unplugged vacation mode goodness!

Zell am See-Kaprun is home to three interconnected alpine resorts connected via the Ski ALPIN CARD: Schmittenhöhe, Maiskogel, and Kitzsteinhorn Glacier.
- Schmittenhöhe (intermediate terrain) has groomed cruising runs with panoramic views of Lake Zell and the Hohe Tauern. This is perfect for intermediate skiers seeking scenic, relaxed descents.
- Maiskogel (beginner terrain) is the family and beginner mountain with gentle slopes and a clear layout. It's ideal for those just learning to ski or snowboard, or returning skiers looking to build confidence again.
- Kitzsteinhorn Glacier (advanced/expert terrain) is the crown jewel, offering high-alpine skiing at 3,200m+ with challenging runs including the infamous "Black Mamba" (63% gradient). There's guaranteed snow and stunning views of Austria's highest peaks.
We'll spend our Snow Week exploring the various runs across all three mountains, with the free ski shuttle departing from outside the chalet to access each resort.
No, a ski pass is not included in the trip price. Each member will likely have their own agenda during snow week. While some may take the first lift up, spend the entire day on the mountain, and be the last people down, others may wish to spend less time on the slopes, focus on learning, or relax completely in the village's famous hot springs. You could choose to purchase a Nozawa Onsen day pass, but opting for a multi-day pass is recommended as it gets you full access to all 36 runs across the mountain.
At present, the 2024-2025 prices for the passes are as follows:
- ¥7,300 (1-day pass),
- ¥ 19,700 (3-day pass)
- Night skiing (available on select runs): ¥2,700 (single night)
More pricing information can be found on the official Nozawa Onsen Snow Resort website.
Yes! There are multiple ski rental shops such as INTERSPORT Rent, Bründl Sports and more that operate throughout the region with locations in both the Zell am See town center and Kaprun. You can book equipment online in advance or rent on-site.
100%, yes! Even if you don't like snow sports and won't join us on the slopes, you're still going to have an absolutely smashing time during Ski Week. You can spend your time going on a snowshoe hike, chilling out at the spa, checking out the nearby town, or just taking a break and relaxing with a good book at the chalet. Honestly, even if you don't ski or snowboard, this is still a perfect week-long vacation.
